10 Jul Trade Group to Promote Marijuana Launched in Alaska
FAIRBANKS — The Alaska Marijuana Trade Association hopes to be the dominant trade group for marijuana businesses in Alaska.
The budding statewide trade association held a news conference Thursday, announcing five of its founding directors—including two from Fairbanks—who are drawn from other pro-marijuana organizations.
The group touted plans to promote cannabis commerce through marketing, lobbying, offering training seminars, outreach, group-rate health insurance plans, developing a code of conduct and working on some of the issues dogging the pot industry in other states, such as the reluctance of banks to do business with marijuana companies.
“We are a seed-to-sale industry association,” said Bruce Schulte, spokesman of the Alaska-based Coalition for Responsible Cannabis Legislation and president of the new trade association. Schulte lives in Anchorage. [Read more at the Fairbanks News-Miner]
